HOW TO USE SPOTIFY WEB PLAYER
When you log into your Spotify account in the web player, the first thing that catches your eye is the minimalistic interface with an intuitive side menu with everything you need to play your favorite music in a couple of clicks.
You should keep in mind that the web version on mobile devices is as limited as its own application, and if you do not have a paid account, you will be doomed to random play.
Also, even if you have a paid account, you won’t be able to download music to listen to later. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment, but come on, Spotify.
FINDING MUSIC ON THE WEB PLAYER
Click the Search tab at the top left to find a great playlist, find your favorite musician, or browse by genre. Here you will find a “View All” area with many styles and main categories at the top. Click on any of them to view a vast collection of featured playlists, new releases, podcasts and more.
Also, you can use the search bar to find anything in the Spotify library. As you type, you’ll see songs, musicians, CDs, playlists, and more. Touch any of them to go to the page.
As you continue to stream songs, your Home page will populate with handy web links customized to your preferences. You’ll find frequently played CDs, customized Spotify playlist mixes, recommended CDs, your favorite artists, and more.
NAVIGATING THE ARTISTS & ALBUMS PAGES ON SPOTIFY WEB
You will be redirected to their web page when you click on the artist’s name anywhere in the Spotify online web player. You’ll find the singer’s most popular songs at the top of the list. This will benefit the user who is not yet very familiar with the singer.
On this page you will find all the CDs, albums, singles and releases of the artist. By clicking on Discography, you will see additional information about the artist’s songs or albums, such as the year of release, the number of songs on the album, and much more.
SAVING MUSIC TO YOUR LIBRARY
The Your Library tab lets you see all your favorite music in one group. The tab also helps you organize your favorite songs into different categories. These categories include playlists, podcasts, artists, and albums.
You can save more albums or playlists to your library by clicking the heart icon above the item. However, to save an individual song, hover over it and click the heart next to the track length.
Also, you can follow the artists by following them. Spotify Web Player will notify you or display your new tracks or releases on your home page as soon as they are available. The streaming platform also recommends more songs from artists you follow.
DOWNLOADING THE SPOTIFY WEB PLAYER
Since the Spotify web player is designed as a progressive web app, you can install the web app on your computer or mobile phone. Therefore, you can use the web player directly in your browser or install a web application.
On a phone, when you sign in to a site designed with this scheme, you’ll be prompted to add the specified site as an app, but this doesn’t happen on desktop, so you’ll have to add it manually.
We’ll quickly show you how to do this on a desktop browser. We’ll use Google Chrome here for reference, but you can also do it in Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave, or any Chromium-based web browser.
Go to the address bar of your browser when you are on the Spotify player web page. Once there, you must click on the monitor-shaped icon and then click on Install.
You’ll immediately notice that the web browser’s address bar disappears, giving way to a cleaner, more app-like interface. This process will create a desktop icon and start menu icon so you can access Spotify without reopening your web browser.
If the install option does not appear, do the following:
- Open the Google Chrome options menu.
- Mouse over More Tools.
- Select Create Shortcut.
- Check the “Open as window” box and click the blue “Create” button.
You can now access the Spotify.com web player directly from your desktop or task menu without opening a browser. Could life be easier?

In addition, browser players offer more flexibility when comparing and switching providers. The trend of modern users towards browser-based applications has prompted providers to invest more time and ideas in the development of non-application services.
The development of the web player is a logical step for Spotify Web Player to offer users the greatest possible flexibility and convenience in the long run.
